MEEET Your GUIDE

Jen Ballew

Birth & Postpartum Doula

Founder of The Parenthood Project

Creator of The Threshold Program

I’m Jen Ballew. I’m a birth and postpartum doula, mother of two, and the creator of The Threshold Program and The Sanctuary Model. For over a decade, I’ve supported families through the full journey of becoming, from early pregnancy through the sacred swirl of postpartum.

My approach blends practical care with deep presence. I’m known for holding space with clarity and compassion, tending to both the emotional and logistical layers of this tender time. Whether I’m guiding a one-on-one session, offering postpartum planning, or facilitating a circle, I show up with the intention to create support that feels nourishing and real.

This path is personal. After experiencing both a traumatic birth and a healing VBAC, I came to this work through my own process of reclaiming trust and restoring agency. That lived experience shaped how I support others and how I advocate for systems of care that truly serve new parents.

Before stepping into doula work, I led teams in homeland security and intelligence. That background gave me a strong foundation in leadership, structure, and discernment—all of which now show up in how I design care that is both intuitive and effective.

Outside of birth work, I’m often on the trails in Orange County, enjoying slow meals with my kids, or showing up for reproductive justice in both digital and real-world spaces. I believe this work is sacred, and I’m honored to walk alongside those navigating the thresholds of parenthood.

Disclaimer - This quiz is a free offering created to help you explore what kind of postpartum support might truly feel nourishing for you. It’s not medical advice or a diagnostic tool, but a reflective starting point—one that can open new insight into what you need and how you want to be supported. After the quiz, you’ll have the option to learn more about how I work with clients, but there’s no pressure to take the next step. You’re invited to move at your own pace, in your own timing.
